About
Helping R&D teams turn complex material behaviour into clear, actionable insight.
MaterialsXpertise was founded on the belief that understanding materials requires more than running measurements. It requires curiosity, physical insight, and the ability to interpret data in context.
Over the past decade, we have worked across sectors, such as pharma and food to coatings, energy, and adhesives, helping R&D teams make sense of liquids, gels, solids, and particulate formulations.
We combine rheology, interfacial interactions, powder flow, and particle analysis to connect material structure, behaviour, and performance, guiding decisions and solving challenges that standard testing alone cannot resolve.
About the founder of MaterialsXpertise
MaterialsXpertise was founded in 2016 by Mariëlle Laimböck-Wouters, with the ambition to help researchers, formulators, process designers, and quality controllers understand the behaviour of their formulations in real processes and products. Understanding structure–property relationships is central to material performance, which is why dedicated equipment and measurement protocols are essential for accurate characterisation.
After completing her PhD at Eindhoven University of Technology, Mariëlle began her career at the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) as a scientist in coatings and adhesives. Over the past 25 years, she has worked extensively in materials synthesis, formulation, and characterisation, developing tools to mimic production processes and reveal the true behaviour of materials.
Mariëlle is a dedicated, result-driven scientist with strong communication skills, helping clients translate complex material behaviour into actionable insights. Her core expertise includes rheology, interfacial interactions, and (nano)particle analysis.
